C is for Community

We are from Conrad Grebel University College. That means we eat cookies bigger than your face.

Thought on off campus-ing.

I was sitting in my usual reading nook today and some either friends or relatives of Bec were by to visit Caleb, and whilst they waited for Bec to get back from lunch, they were discussing Grebel as outsiders (who apparently know more than just Bec, the one girl apparently knew a frosh who wasn’t around).

Anyways. They were discussing living off campus in comparison to, say, living in a place like grebel and paying for all the meals up front, and the cost comparison in that. It got me thinking a lot about how much money we spend on the food in the caf, and I know it’s been discussed to death before, but is it realllly worth the money?

I would say that it is, for the convenience of it all. This term has pretty much run me ragged as far as meals go, and we share food/responsibility. Dave and I have been pretty much pulling at strings to figure out what to eat this week, and we’re both tired of cooking. Not to mention it seems like we always eat something big but never use certain ingredients (the peppers are liquifying, so did the cuccumber last week…).

I really wonder what next year is going to be like. My investigation into the term reveals that I have classes W/Th Evening, T late afternoon, and F late morning. The rest of my time will be spent working on course work, which I know will take lots of work. How will I eat? I think weekend cooking may start to look verrry appealing. That and my slow-cooker…

Hmm.
